The Sloan Extension for Galactic Understanding
and Exploration (SEGUE), a three year spectroscopic
survey of one quarter million fainter Milky Way stars,
provides a unique look at the kinematics of our Galaxy.

We describe the survey and several recent applications,
featuring a low-metallicity stellar population census, the
oddly inter-tangled dynamics of the thin and thick disks,
and an update on the usefulness of tidal streams
including constraints on the dark matter-dominated
potential in the outer Galaxy,
