Abstract: The DAMIC-M experiment uses skipper charge-coupled devices (CCDs) to search for dark matter underground at the Laboratoire Souterrain de Modane. The kg-scale detector is designed to resolve single electron recoils from low-mass WIMP and hidden photon scatters on silicon. We will discuss the status of DAMIC-M, recent calibration studies, and the first search for light dark matter with the prototype Low Background Chamber.
