Abstract: Superconducting traveling wave parametric amplifier (TWPA) development has progressed considerably in the past few years driven by the needs for broadband, quantum-noise-limited amplification in the fields of quantum computing, dark matter, and astrophysics. In this talk, I will provide a general background to the theory and operation of TWPAs, demonstration of quantum limited noise performance and vacuum squeezing, and their use within QUALIPHIDE to set new limits on the coupling of hidden photons. Finally, I will discuss ongoing work to create the next generation of TWPAs and other superconducting kinetic-inductance-based technology as a preview of some of the advancements we might expect in the next decade.
